GYM

Our class were so excited to be going to gym on Friday. There was a nice man that taught us ow to do motorbike landings. He showed our  teacher  what to do at the activity stations too because she had never been to the gym before. We were lucky to have lots of parents to help us. In one group there were only 2 girls and 4 boys. There were for stations  that we had to go to. The tramp and air mat were our favourites.
On the way back we were a bit  slow, so when the back gate  people went to go home the back gates were closed. We can't wait for Friday again.

How Does Your Garden Grow?

Today in Room 7 we were working from a newspaper called Go Zone and it was called, How does your garden grow?
It told us how to grow a healthy garden and it told us that a tomato is actually a fruit because it has seeds. Any food that has seeds in it is a fruit!
Did you know that there’s actually more life under the soil then above it! With around 500 million living things in each tiny bit of soil, it’s ...... buzzing!
Below are the steps of how a seed grows.
1. When a seed starts to grow it splits its seed coat and out grows a tiny root from one end.
2. The little root grows down into a soil.
3. A little green plant starts to grow out of the seed coat.
4. It pushes up through the dirt. Two tiny leaves grow. It is called a seeding.
5. Then the plant starts to grow into a fruit or a vegetable.
Worms are good for gardening because the worm pee is good for the crops. Seeds are baby plants.

ATHLETICS

On Thursday Norman from Sport Wanganui visits us for athletics coaching.
Last week we learnt how to dodge (changing your balance from one foot to another).
Yesterday we learnt how to sprint. We used our arms like a steam train to give us power.
We really enjoy playing the fun games that help us practice what we have learnt!

Duffy Theatre

Yesterday Duffy Theatre came and preformed to our School. The play was called 'Duffy Loses His Words'. Duffy's words were taken in a dream by an alien and he had to have a spelling competition to win his own words back. Afi his friend loves rhyming and every time she rhymed the alien sneezed. As it turned out the creature had only stolen his English words and he could still spell in Moari winning his words back.

We know it is important to be able to read lots of words or you might wear they wrong top or get lost in town if you cant read signs.

Brianna from our class was awarded a New Zealand Post Book for achievement reading and writing.

Room 7's Green Garden

We have planted some green vegetables in our classes garden plot. We are trying to grow Perfect Parsley, Rockin Rocket, Luscious Lettuce and Sensation Spinach.

First we had to loosen the soil and dig out the weeds.
We then made it level with a rake.
Mrs McIntyre made rows in the garden by using the rake handle as a ruler.
We then used our finger to make holes a finger length apart. In each hole we planted three seeds.
The final job was to water the seedlings.

With daily watering we hope we will see some growth soon.
